Sometimes it is called African white-backed vulture to distinguish it from the Oriental white-backed vulture — nowadays usually called white-rumped vulture — to which it was formerly believed to be closely related.

WHITE-HEADED VULTURE
@Southern Africa

#Trigonoceps occipitalis ,  The white-headed vulture  is an Old World vulture endemic to Africa. Populations have been declining steeply in recent years due to habitat degradation and poisoning of vultures at carcasses. An extinct relative was also present in the Indonesian island of Flores, indicating that the genus was more widespread in the past.

BLACK-SHOULDERED KITE
@Southern Africa

#Elanus axillaris , Also known as the Australian black-shouldered kite, is a small raptor found in open habitat throughout Australia.
