SPECIAL AND RARE
ANIMALS OF
SOUTHERN
AFRICA

Rare genetic wildlife breeds in africa can be bread or can be naturally occurring and carefully managed by game farms. Images, links and information to the following animal cards  are provided for by www.wikipedia.org and through our own images and descriptions.

WHITE LIONS
@Region

#naturalmutation ,  The white lion is a rare color mutation of the lion, specifically the Southern African lion. White lions in the area of Timbavati are thought to have been indigenous to the Timbavati region of South Africa for centuries, although the earliest recorded sighting in this region was in 1938.

KING CHEETAH
@Africa

#naturalmutation ,  King cheetahs are mainly found in Africa, and they are extremely rare. The appearance of the king cheetah differs from the standard cheetah, which causes confusion. The king cheetah has stripes and spots that differ from the common cheetahs, and this is caused by a single recessive gene which causes the funky fur pattern. The king cheetah has a mutation that exhibits longer and softer fur compared to the typical species.

BLACK IMPALA
@Southern Africa

#naturalmutation ,  There was a time, not so very long ago, that small groups of these astonishing black impalas roamed the plains of Africa. A recessive gene, similar to what you find in the white tiger of India, the king cheetah and the white lion of Africa cause the black coloration, and therefore the odds for survival in nature is against these rare impalas.

GOLDEN WILDEBEEST
@South Africa

#naturalmutation ,  Golden Wildebeest naturally occurred along the Limpopo River basin, adjacent to the Tuli-Block of Botswana. Early farmers in the 1920’s, called them “Vos Wildebeest” The first Golden Wildebeest Bull was captured by Alec Rough in the early 1990’s in the Limpopo Valley. This is the area where the majority of Golden Wildebeest originate from.
